The preferred mode of transport has taken an unlikely turn in recent years. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. It could be down to efforts to remain green, perhaps people want to save money on high gas prices, or maybe many people just want to get in shape! Either way there are now more bikes on the road then ever before. Perhaps you have been giving some thought to getting a bike yourself? Here are some hints to help you choose the cycling bicycle that is right for you.
One of the major parts of choosing the right cycling bicycle for you is making sure that the bicycle is the right size. The measurement of your inseam is needed for this. Simply measure through your inner leg from your groin to the bottom of your foot to find out your inseam. When you get a bike you should be able to lay both feet flat to the ground if need be. This is mainly for safety and will allow you to use your feet to stop the bike without the brakes if needed.
Take 9" away from the total of your inseam if you plan to get a road bike. This is because of the size of the tires on your road bike. Designed for cycling around the city road bike tires are thin. For a mountain bike you will need to take 12" away from your total inseam. This is because the tires of a mountain bike are different than those on a road bike. You will find them to be much bigger and designed to handle rocky terrain. You can of course use a mountain bike for road cycling but this isn't supposed to be their primary use.
How many gears do you need? Choose according to how you’ll ride; mountainous areas require more gears than flat land areas do. The number of gears doesn’t make one bike better than another. You may never even get around to using all the available gears. Save your money for a different feature you’ll really use. Ensure you have enough gears to handle the situations in which you will be riding, especially if you bike will be your main mode of transport.
You will see there are many things you should consider when you are finding the bike that's right for you. It can become a bit overwhelming when going shopping for a bike and accessories because there is just so much to choose from. Don't become discouraged; map out what you need for your bike why not look here and you'll be on your way in no time.
